Written by The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a discount in the price of Petrol to be sold to Nigerians for the next 30 days. The discount only applies to fuel sold by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL ) dispense stations across the country.
The Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele made the announcement on Thursday during a news conference on fuel prices in Abuja.
The Minister said the discount was not in any way a reintroduction of subsidy, but explained that the move was to reduce the hardship being experienced by the high cost of fuel. He said the NNPCL will dispense fuel at the landing cost price, and that priority will be given to commercial transporters.
Oyedele also explained that the Federal Government is working assiduously to ensure that the landing cost of petrol does not exceed N1,350
